Clean glass bottles and jars (no lids) will be collected for recycling in the parking lot from 4 pm Saturday, January 28, through 1 pm Sunday, January 29. Please bring glass in boxes and put it in the trailer in the church lot. The county uses the glass in road construction.
Blessing of candles on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, February 2: When Jesus was brought to the temple Simeon was there, and he took Jesus in his arms and said that Jesus would be a light. All the church candles are blessed at the morning Mass. You may bring candles from home to be blessed by Wednesday, February 1. Please put them in a labeled bag and place them in front of the Holy Family statue in the church.
The series starts Thursday, Feb. 2, and continues Feb. 9 & 16, from 6:30 to 7:45 pm, in the social hall. Everyone is welcome. The topic is Discussing Racism, based on the book, A White Catholic’s Guide to Racism and Privilege by Father Daniel Horan, OFM. The sessions will review short videos on the topic as well as use the book to guide questions and discussion. While it is not necessary to read Father Horan’s book to attend, interested people can get a free copy of his book at the church entrance. (If you finished the book and would like to share it, please return it to the church entrance.)The parish Social Justice Ministry is sponsoring the series and providing the books. Please put your old dried palms in the basket at the church entrance by Sunday, February 19. They will be burned and the ashes will be used on Ash Wednesday.
Everyone is invited to a pancake breakfast in the social hall, after the 8:30 Mass, Sunday, February 5. A delicious start to your day, brought to you by the Knights of Columbus.
Everyone is invited to our half hour Tuesday noon Mass, with a potluck following in the social hall. come and enjoy prayer and a meal with the staff and other parishioners.
The Anointing of the Sick will take place during all Masses February 11 & 12. Anyone who needs the Sacrament is invited to come forward. It “is not a sacrament for those only who are at the point of death.” The anointing can be given to anyone suffering from a serious illness or facing “a serious operation. The same holds for the elderly whose frailty becomes more pronounced” (Catechism No. 1514 & 1515 ).
Everyone is invited to Wine & Cheese in the social hall Saturday, February 11, after the 4:30 pm Mass. Please contact the parish office if you can host on February 25 - we plan to have wine & cheese the second & fourth Saturdays of most months.
You can recycle plastic bags and wrap! We are still collecting plastic bags and film to recycle. There are some updated requirements: They can’t use cellophane-like, crackly plastic that doesn’t stretch. If it tears instead of stretching, please don’t bring it. And, it must be clean and dry.
