Information for children Preparing to recieve Sacraments
Confirmation & First Eucharist Mass will be on
May 10th at 10:00 amWe will have a reception afterward in the social Hall
We will hold the Sacrament Prep Retreat on Sunday, April 27 (12:15-1:45 PM) in the Social Hall.
We will go through a dry run of the Sacrament Mass, cover some additional ideas, and make first communion banners. It is important that sponsors be present in order to understand their role in the mass. If a sponsor absolutely cannot be present, a parent/guardian should convey the necessary information.
All children receiving Sacraments need to provide proof of baptism by or before May 1. This can be a new certificate from the church of baptism or a copy of a certificate from personal records.
Additional Important information:* Children (candidates) and sponsors should arrive by 9:30 at the latest. (Earlier would be even better.) We will use the time to review what will happen in the ceremony one more time. Guests should be seated by 10:00 so that they do not interfere with the opening processional. Don't forget to bring the children's first communion banners.* Candidates will process in pairs with their sponsors behind the crucifer and two candle bearers. Fr. Steve, Dn. Jim and the Bishop will follow behind them. Please have your children walk in a moderately-paced and dignified manner alongside their sponsors. The first five pews on the left side will be reserved for the children and their sponsors. Please do not have them sit in the open pew at the very front.* The candidates (just the candidates) will stand in the pews as a group for the renewal of their baptismal promises. They should respond "I do" loudly enough so that those guests at the back can hear them.* Candidates and their sponsors should come forward for the laying on of hands and anointing with the sacred chrism. Standing behind his or her candidate, each sponsor should lay his or her right hand on the right shoulder of his or her candidate during the laying on of hands and anointing. When first coming up to the Bishop, the sponsor should announce the candidate's first name. If the candidate has chosen a confirmation saint, the sponsor should say the first name and saint's name (e.g., my confirmation saint is Joan of Arc, so I would be announced as "Cory Joan").* During the recessional, only the crucifer, candle bearers, Dn. Jim, Fr. Steve and the Bishop will exit. Candidates and sponsors should remain in the pews. When the closing hymn is over, we will gather at the front for photographs. Don't forget to have candidates and sponsors wear something appropriate to the significance of the occasion.* After the ceremony, there will be a reception in the Social Hall to celebrate your children. Even if you and your guests will not be staying for the full lunch, please come downstairs for some light refreshments before taking off. -
Faith Formation Forms and Information:
Classes will begin September 15th and run through May. No class during Pullman School district break weekends.

Preschool - Kindergarten
Sundays, 8:30 am - 9:30 am, downstairs in the St. Elizabeth Room
Children 3 years old by 8/31/24 through Kindergarten are invited to classes where they learn about God through prayers, stories, simple crafts and games. -
First - Sixth Grade
Classes are held from 9:45 am - 10:45 am beginning September 15th, and take place in the classrooms downstairs.

Sacred Heart Youth Ministry (SHYM)

Religious Awards for Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire
If your sons or daughters are in a troop, they are eligible to earn a religious award. These awards allow young people to explore and become more involved in their Catholic faith. All programs are designed to support and complement the catechetical efforts of Catholic parishes and schools.
